A little boy comes to his secret place in the forest - an oak and a small pond.
He sits down under a tree and unwraps his delicious breakfast.
Someone is watching him intently from behind the bushes.

An old man comes into a tiny but roomy store to buy a pack of cigarettes for a boy with rotten teeth. He is greeted by an old cashier, eyes smeared with blue shadows and lips with red lipstick. Cigarette smoke and the pungent smell of stinky sandalwood sticks hovers around her.
An old man asks for cigarettes and pays for them with a tooth.
Not with his own tooth. With someone else's tooth. But with a tooth. But not his own.

Documentary animation about the place of my childhood. 

Frame-by-frame animation for the tale "The Evil Stepmother". A Japanese folk tale with a standard plot and an unusual ending — a stepmother tries to kill an innocent stepdaughter.
As the Japanese say, "気に食わない" (kinikuvanai) means "a bone in the throat".
